I don’t claim to know everything there is to know about being single. But I can tell you a few things from my experience. People always want to tell you what you are doing wrong. Sometimes you just need to know what you are doing right. So here are three things that I learned as a Single.

1. Learn How to Date Yourself
   Have you ever wanted to try a new restaurant? Go miniature golfing? Roller skating? Visit a new city? Well, what are you waiting for??? Go for it. Learn to live life free on your own schedule. Explore different things that are around you. You don’t have to wait for that “special” someone to date you. If you date yourself, when they show up you can give them a guideline to what you like and/or don’t like.
2. Be Content
   Are you always looking at the “new” guy/girl and asking yourself “Oh, is this ‘The One’?” Cut it out!!! When you are content, read that to mean happy where you are, you spend less time thinking about ‘The One’ and more time thinking about how much you enjoy life as it is. If you don’t enjoy life as it is then you aren’t content. So, hop to it.
3. You Attract Who You Are
   Are you always negative and complaining? Speak well of yourself and others. It goes a long way. And as my Mom always said “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.” People want to be around someone who is real. Just not real negative ALL the time. Focus on being positive, upbeat and open. There has to be something good happening in your life. If there isn’t…refer back to Tip #1.

This is just a little glimpse into my world. I learned to be content and that included learning how to date myself. I’m always willing to try new things. Once I started being positive and upbeat, even when no one was around I realized that Hey, I liked myself that much more. Not in a conceited way, just in a way that I would want to be in my own company. So, I hope these nuggets will help as you continue this awesome journey of being single.
