Hands Up

Hands Up

When situations and circumstances come, I try to handle things on my own. Forgetting that I have a husband and a support system to help me. Most importantly, I have God who cares. In 1 Peter 5:7 “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”

Living a surrendered life means I give everything to God. Not just the things I can’t handle, but even the things I can. I don’t get to pick and choose what to surrender and what not to surrender.

Yes, sometimes it can be challenging to put my hands up and let it all go. Why? Because in my mind, I haven’t fully embraced surrendering. What does it mean to surrender? According to Webster’s it means to agree to stop fighting, hiding, resisting, etc., because you know that you will not win or succeed; to give up completely or agree to forgo especially in favor of another.

Does this mean the longer I keep fighting against God’s plans and will for my life, I haven’t surrendered? Yes, that’s exactly what it means. I am learning that when I give up my will completely and agree to forgo my desires in favor of God’s, I am truly living a surrendered life.

The beauty of it all is knowing that God plans for me are good. In Jeremiah 29:11 it says “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” With this in mind, I am able to say Hands Up with a freedom and confidence in knowing God’s got me. Today, I encourage you to live life with your hands up….. On Purpose.
