Part of this World

Part of this World

If I could just fit in. Something deep within us cries out to be accepted. To fit in. To be a part of “that” world. You know, where the cool kids are. So, who defines what is or isn’t cool? You? Them? Parents? Probably not. Somewhere at some time, somebody decided that it was cool to do this. Cool to do that. You have to fit in somewhere, right? Wrong. Stop trying to fit in when you were born to STAND OUT.

There are times that we desperately want to be cool. I did when I was in Junior High (Middle School) and High School. Where being popular was great, but at the expense of what? My self esteem, my self worth. Giving up my morals, values just to be considered “cool”. Don’t get me wrong there is nothing wrong with being popular. The question that begs to be asked is what are you popular for? Is it because you are intelligent and beautiful? Notice the intelligence came before the beauty. Is it because you can relate to all types of people? is it because you feel good about yourself without putting other people down? Those are the things that determine your “cool” factor. If that’s not the qualities by which coolness is determined, then it’s time for some restructuring. Who says that you can’t define what is cool? You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood. A person who was ultimately born to STAND OUT! Stop trying to fit in as you were made to break the mold.

Every day you decide to try to fit in, you deny your uniqueness. Every day you try to fit in, you choose to become a shadow instead of the light. You are a direct reflection of God and He is glorious and radiant. Who are you to be anything less. You are the express image of who He is. Jesus did not come to this world to fit in. He came to call us out. So every day made a decision to stop trying to do something you were not created to do: FIT IN. Instead, understand and embrace the fact that you are meant to STAND OUT!
